Client: Loughborough University

Project Sector: Education and Leisure

Project Value: £3m

Contract: JCT Design and Build

Role: Quantity Surveying and Employer’s Agent

Description

Extension of the existing Dan Maskell Tennis Centre to provide an LTA National Centre of Excellence incorporating new indoor tennis courts and squash court facilities.

Project Challenges

It was fundamental that the strict sports parameters and guidelines were adhered to and the wider constraints for flooding, access, planning and external body pressures were recognised, and TCQ were central in supporting this entire process and advising on cost.

Providing Added Value

  • Cost Optioneering for several proposals to due site constraints, access and planning restrictions.
  • Combining both Squash and Tennis courts in one solution and ensuring the team design to cost by efficient use of gross floor area.
  • Engagement with specialist suppliers and federations to ensure robustness and accuracy of costs for Squash court and tennis court fit out.

Client Response

TCQ bring with them the ability to go into the detail of the project, understanding on this occasion the sporting landscape and ensuring that they have not only checked against previous builds elsewhere but also to engage with the governing body of sport to ensure the requirements for the facility meet these requirements
